Introduction
These terms cover work carried out by Pitcher Build Carpentry Ltd, and your use of this website. They are written for domestic customers. Where we work for a business or a developer, the terms in our written contract take priority.
Who we are
Pitcher Build Carpentry Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16842018, registered office 33 Brassey Avenue, Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 2DS.
This website
The photographs, text and design on this site belong to us or are used with permission, and may not be reproduced without our agreement. We keep the site accurate but it describes the kind of work we do rather than forming an offer. Nothing here is a quotation.
Quotations
We quote in writing after visiting the property. A quotation is valid for 30 days and is based on the work described in it. It assumes the property is as we saw it. Where something is only discoverable once work begins - the condition of existing timber, what is behind a wall, the state of a roof - we will tell you before carrying out extra work, and price it separately.
An estimate is our best assessment of a likely cost, not a fixed price. We will always say which one we are giving you.
Prices, deposits and payment
- Deposit: 20% on acceptance of the quote
- Stage payments: through the job, as set out in your quotation
- Final balance: due 15 days after completion
- VAT: registered, number 514991571
Materials ordered specifically for your job are charged whether or not the work goes ahead, once ordered. We may charge interest on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where the customer is a business.
Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer and we agreed the contract at your home rather than at our premises, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of entering into it, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Tell us in writing and we will refund you.
If you ask us to begin within that 14 day period and then cancel, you will owe us for what we have done up to that point. If you have asked us in writing to begin and the work is completed within the period, the right to cancel ends on completion.
Access and the site
We will need reasonable access during working hours, water and power, and somewhere to put materials and waste. Please tell us about anything that affects the work - a protected building, shared drains, asbestos, services buried in a wall. We leave the site clean at the end of each working day and remove our waste at the end of the job unless agreed otherwise.
Timescales
We give realistic dates and keep to them where we can. Weather, material lead times, building control and work by others can move them. We will tell you as soon as we know, and dates are not of the essence unless we have agreed that in writing.
Our work
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, using materials of satisfactory quality, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires. Where a manufacturer guarantees a product we fit, that guarantee passes to you.
We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from completion. That covers our work, not fair wear and tear, misuse, movement in the building, or work later altered by someone else.
If something is not right, tell us within 30 days of completion and we will come back and put it right. That is separate from, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Problems
If something is not right, tell us and give us a fair chance to put it right. That is usually quicker than anything else, and it is what the law expects before you claim the cost of another contractor.
Insurance and liability
We carry public liability insurance with Accredited Insurance (Europe) Limited. We are responsible for loss or damage we cause. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for the work of contractors you have engaged directly. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Complaints
Contact us at pitcherbuild_carpentryltd@outlook.com or on 07525 439636. We will acknowledge within 5 working days and set out how we intend to resolve it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer this does not affect your statutory rights.
