What this website collects
No cookies are set by this site. It stores nothing in your browser, uses no analytics, and carries no advertising or social media tracking pixels.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these to identify or profile visitors.
Fonts loaded from Google
The site loads two typefaces from Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser requests files from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This is the only third party involved in serving the page. Google's handling of that data is covered by their privacy policy.
Links to Instagram
Our footer links to our Instagram profile. Following it takes you to Instagram, where Meta's own privacy policy applies. Nothing is embedded in this site, so Meta receives nothing unless you click through.
The enquiry form
The form on our contact section asks for four things: your name, your email address, your telephone number and a description of the work. All four are needed - most quotes start with a phone call - and we ask for nothing beyond them. Not your address, because that comes up when we arrange to visit.
Submitting it sends those details to our email inbox through Formspree, a form service who pass the message on and do not use it for anything of their own. Formspree is based in the United States, so your message is processed there, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires for transfers outside the UK. We do not use a CAPTCHA, so no cookies are set and nothing is shared with a third party for spam checking; the form carries a hidden field that automated submissions tend to fill in and people do not.
We rely on legitimate interests to answer an enquiry you have chosen to send us, and on steps taken at your request before entering a contract once we are quoting. We do not ask you to consent to this, because consent is not the right basis for replying to someone who has contacted us, and it cannot be a condition of answering you.
There is no tick box on the form and nothing to opt into. We use what you send to answer you and quote, and for nothing else. If we ever want to send you anything beyond that we will ask first.
If you contact us another way
When you telephone or email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to tell us: typically your name, contact details, the address of the property and a description of the work. We use it to answer you, quote for the work, and carry it out if you go ahead.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests for responding to an enquiry, and performance of a contract once you engage us. Where we have to keep records for tax or building control, our basis is legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We may pass what is necessary to:
- tradespeople and suppliers working on your job, where they need it to do so;
- our accountant, and HMRC, for tax records;
- building control or a surveyor where the work requires it;
- our insurer, if a claim arises.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Records relating to work we have carried out are kept for at least six years, which is how long we may need them for tax and for any claim about the work.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold, correct it, delete it, or restrict what we do with it. You can also object to us holding it on the basis of legitimate interests. Write to the email address above and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
